How do European funds finance innovation and eco-innovation projects? What are the themes and projects supported?

Innovation actions in the fisheries sector financed under measure 26 FEAMP

As part of the financing of innovation in the fisheries sector, measure 26 of the FEAMP has allowed to support different types of projects throughout the sector involving a strong mobilization of actors from the bottom sector with an interest expressed in particular in terms of sanitary quality and product development.

In this regard, the proposed themes are diversified and concern:

  • the valorization of an invasive alga allowing the creation of an activity of exploitation, transformation and marketing around this resource (SNOTRA, carried by Synergie Mer et Littoral).
  • the development of a dried fish-based product for human consumption (Instant Fish, supported by SEAFOODIA).
  • the development of a method of rapid detection of the alteration of fish fillets to better control the state of freshness of fish (Alteration, supported by the competitiveness cluster AQUIMER).
  • the development of a technology to control infestation by Anisakidae larvae. (ATTILA, supported by France Filière Pêche).
  • the development of tools to control the risk of microplastic contamination of processed fish products (MICROSCOP, supported by the IATTC).
  • the development of tools to assist in the prevention and assessment of occupational risks in the fish trade (PRISM, supported by the French Fish Trade Union).

Other innovation projects supported within this scope and which have mobilized the upstream sector concern in particular the following topics

  • the creation of a software program to optimize the friction of trawl doors in order to reduce energy consumption (CONNECT, supported by the CRPMEM of Brittany).
  • the development of a new and more efficient on-board cooling system for fishing vessels (FISH FRESH V17, carried out by the SCMM).
  • the development of innovative implantation techniques for abalone (OURMEL, supported by the University of Western Brittany)
